Reno — Duncan Golf Management’s purchase of highly acclaimed LakeRidge Golf Course in December of 2013 came at an exciting time for Northern Nevada’s economy, with several prominent businesses relocating to the Northern Nevada area.

“With the changing economics in our community, we see a great potential for continued growth in the golf business” said Tom Duncan, owner/CEO of Duncan Golf Management, Inc. “We’re very grateful for the support the community has shown us, and we believe the addition of this golf course will continue to highlight our portfolio of owned and managed golf course properties.”

Designed by renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1969, LakeRidge Golf Course has earned an exceptional reputation for service, amenities and aesthetics, including majestic views of the cityscape and surrounding mountain ranges. Duncan Golf Management purchased the course with bridge financing provided by Heritage Bank of Nevada, which later included permanent, 20 year fixed financing with the assistance of Nevada State Development Corporation, the state’s leading SBA 504 loan provider.

“I always felt that the NSDC team in Reno was working on our behalf to make sure we accomplished our goal,” Duncan said. “They were very thorough and very helpful throughout the process.”

Greg McKay, Vice President of Nevada State Development, said: “We are proud to have had multiple opportunities to assist the Duncans in growing and expanding their family-owned golf management business. They have deep roots in the community, and have earned the respect of residents and business leaders throughout the region.”

LakeRidge Golf Course is an award-winning 18-hole championship course featuring towering trees, rocky ridges, stunning views and challenging greens. The course’s world-famous signature hole, the par-3 15th, is perched 140 feet above Lake Stanley and plays downhill to an enticing island green.

Located just 4.5 miles from downtown Reno and 4.1 miles from Reno-Tahoe International Airport, LakeRidge is extremely accessible to visitors and has amassed one of the largest annual golf membership bases in the area. The 19th Hole Restaurant on site serves breakfast and lunch in a country club setting and is available for weddings and other special events.

With the acquisition of LakeRidge, Duncan Golf Management now owns and manages multiple golf courses throughout the region. Duncan was the men’s golf coach for the University of Nevada from 1994 to 2004. He also played baseball for the Wolf Pack from 1970 to 1972. His son T.J. Duncan, former captain of the golf team at the University of Oregon, serves as the company’s vice president.

“We strive to offer a good product, for a fair price with great service,” Tom Duncan said. “We want to distinguish ourselves by making sure everyone has a good time when they come out to visit and play our courses.”
